Why Take Conservation Courses on Bonaire?
You might sign up for a conservation course because you care about the ocean. But if you're lucky, you’ll leave with more than knowledge — you'll carry a quiet sense of responsibility into every dive you make after. On Bonaire, these courses are more than certifications. They’re moments of hands-on learning, and subtle but powerful shifts in how you connect with the reef. At Scuba Elite, we teach conservation in small groups, with personal attention and intention — because real change starts one diver at a time!
What Conservation Courses Really Teach You
More Than Just Coral Facts
It’s easy to think of eco diving as a list of dos and don'ts — don’t touch the reef, don’t kick the coral. But true conservation courses go deeper. You learn how reef systems work, what threatens them, and how divers can be part of the solution.
You’ll come away understanding:
Coral reproduction and restoration
Fish identification and reef biodiversity
Waste cycles and marine debris impact
Awareness Becomes Action
In our Dive Against Debris course, you’ll do more than pick up trash. You’ll log and report what you find — contributing to global databases that track pollution trends. That moment when you find fishing line tangled in coral? It becomes more than cleanup. It becomes care. After completing a Reef Renewal course, many divers tell us they notice more. They remind buddies to check buoyancy. They speak up about sunscreen. Not because they’re experts — but because they understand what’s at stake.

What It’s Like to Learn Conservation With Us
Calm Guidance, Not Crowds
We don’t run big conservation groups. We keep our eco courses small so there’s space for questions, reflection, and actual connection with what you're doing. You’ll work closely with a guide who knows the reef and the restoration sites inside out. Our goal isn’t to race through the skills — it’s to help you understand the why behind every action.
Real Dive Sites, Real Work
Whether you're planting coral fragments or logging debris data, the work is real. This isn’t roleplay or a test. It’s meaningful reef work — and you’ll be doing it in some of Bonaire’s most stunning dive sites. Our restoration site is in collaboration with Beyond the Corals and located at Bachelor’s Beach, and our clean-up dives take place at our Adopted dive site: Something Special.
Expect to:
Brief and prep your tools such as mesh bags
Learn underwater tasks like fragment attachment during Reef Renewal or careful cleanup with Dive Against Debris
Debrief thoughtfully — with a coffee of course
You’ll Remember the Feeling
““I thought I signed up to help the reef. I didn’t expect it to change how I dive.””
We often hear this, and that right there, that’s the magic.
The course ends — but your mindset doesn’t.
Once you’ve seen the reef this way, you don’t unsee it.

"I thought I signed up to help the reef. I didn’t expect it to change how I dive."
How Conservation Courses Help You Grow
You Don’t Have to Be an Expert
These courses are designed for divers who care — not just scientists or professionals. Whether you’re finishing your Advanced or have 100 dives logged, you’ll learn something new and meaningful.
You’ll:
Clean Reef Renewal trees and grow your own coral garden
Gain confidence in identifying diverse corals and marine life
Understand how small choices add up
You Join a Global Community
When you complete a PADI AWARE course, you’re not just a solo eco-diver. You become part of a global movement. Divers worldwide share data, stories, and support — and you’re now in that loop. You’ll feel that connection when you meet other conservation-minded divers. There’s a shared language. A quiet purpose. And purpose feels good above water, but even better underwater. Some of our guests say these were their favorite dives on Bonaire — not because they saw the most fish, but because they felt most connected.
It’s not about saving the reef in one day. It’s about showing up for it, dive by dive.

If that sounds like the kind of dive experience you’re looking for, we’d love to guide you through it.
