Sustainability
At Scuba Elite, we’re not just passionate about diving—we’re deeply connected to Bonaire’s marine park. Every dive reminds us how lucky we are to explore this underwater paradise, and we feel a responsibility to protect it for future generations.
That’s why we’re hands-on with conservation. Our in-house Reef Renewal instructor guides divers in restoring corals at our local nursery, and we organize Dive Against Debris events where our team and guests come together to clean up the reefs.
We also love bringing people together to learn and make a difference. From hosting Manta Conservation presentations to supporting Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire with their meaningful merchandise, we’re proud to be part of a community that cares as much as we do.
When you dive with us, you’re not just exploring—you’re helping us protect Bonaire’s ocean!
Sustainability Policy
Purpose
At Scuba Elite, we are committed to preserving the marine environment and promoting sustainable diving practices on Bonaire. Our Sustainability Policy aims to protect coral reefs, marine life, and the ecosystems we explore.
Policy Guidelines
Respect Marine Life
Do not touch or disturb coral reefs or marine animals
Maintain a safe distance from all wildlife to avoid stress or harm
No feeding of marine life: feeding fish or other marine animals is strictly prohibited, as it disrupts their natural behaviors and can harm ecosystems.
No Tools or Disruptive Equipment
The use of pointer sticks, gloves, or any other equipment that may damage the reef is prohibited, except for divers engaged in approved conservation activities.
Diving Practices
Follow all safety and diving procedures outlined during the dive briefing to ensure your own safety and nature around you.
Ensure proper buoyancy control to avoid contact with the seabed and coral formations.
Waste Management
Dispose of all waste responsibly, using designated containers.
Dispose cigarettes in the ash trays while smoking around the shop, or near a dive site
Avoid bringing single-use plastics on dives.
Use reef-safe sunscreen: only apply reef-safe sunscreen before diving to protect marine ecosystems.
Monitoring and Reporting
Divers are encouraged to report harmful activities or observed violations to promote accountability within the diving community.
Partnerships and Community Engagement
Divers are encouraged to collaborate with local conservation organizations for beach clean-ups, reef monitoring, and habitat restoration projects.
Divers are encouraged to engage through awareness campaigns, providing educational materials about marine ecosystems and sustainable practices.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement
Provide feedback on the Sustainability Policy and please suggest improvements based on your experiences in the Scuba Elite dive shop.
Compliance with Local Regulations
Adhere to all Marine Park rules as stipulated by STINAPA and other relevant authorities.
Stay informed about any changes to local environmental regulations.
