About the course

In just 2 to 3 days, we're providing all the knowledge and skills you need to become a confident and certified PADI Open Water diver.

First, we'll dive into the theory and fundamentals of scuba diving, walking you through equipment setup, underwater communication, and essential safety procedures.

But that's just the beginning!

With our instructors by your side, you'll venture into the ocean for a series of dives, where you'll get to apply your new skills and immerse yourself in the breathtaking underwater world of Bonaire. We train at our house reef, Something Special, which is a perfect dive site for beginner divers.

After the PADI Open Water Diver course you:

  • are a very confident and certified diver

  • know how to plan for safe dives with your buddies

  • are trained to help solve minor inconveniences underwater

  • will be excited about diving and be planning for future dives and vacations

Course details

Becoming a PADI Open Water Diver in Bonaire is a wonderful experience. As you progress through the training, you'll gain the confidence, skills, and experience needed to safely explore the dive sites in Bonaire with your buddy. Additionally, it opens up opportunities to discover even more scuba diving destinations!

Prerequisites

Before joining the Open Water Diver course, please review if you meet all the course prerequisites:

  • Minimum 10 years old

  • Medically fit to dive. Avoid disappointments by ensuring you're medically fit to dive; check and download the dive medical form to ascertain if you need a physician’s approval before enrolling in the scuba course.

Course Program

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of 2 parts: independent study via eLearning and the actual dive training at our Scuba Elite dive shop.

  • Part 1: Independent study via eLearning

    The first part of the course is all about dive theory. Download the PADI app, buy your eLearning and start to learn all about the scuba diving principles. You can use your own device and study whenever it’s convenient for you. We are always available to answer your scuba questions.

    eLearning duration: 5 - 10 hours

    eLearning price: 230 usd

  • Part 2: Actual dive training at Scuba Elite in Bonaire

    After completing your eLearning, it is time to practice actual scuba diving skills. It’s the fun part! During the in-water training sessions you will learn for example how to use scuba gear, plan your dives safely and build confidence as a diver. Our training days start at 08:00 AM and will be finished around 04:00 PM.

    Dive training duration: 2 to 3 days

    Price for dive training: 365 usd per person
